About the products in general

Maintenance

  • The use of volatile solvents such as benzene, thinner,and disinfectant alcohol is strictly prohibited. It can lead to deterioration and color fading.
  • Washing in water is also prohibited.
  • Do not use a washing machine and dry cleaning is also strictly prohibited.

For Storage

  • In order to prevent archenemy of mold from getting on the products, rub with dry cloth and dry in shade, and then store in dry and well-ventilated place. In this case, do not forget to stuff paper (newspaper and such) inside to prevent shape deterioration.
  • When storing your bag, please place it in a cool, low-humidity, well-ventilated area. Poor ventilation may accelerate the deterioration of materials such as resin.
  • Importance of “day-off”. For keep the shape of the bags, please do not use the bag everyday.

Caution

When you use the products, please pay attention to the following instructions.

  • When wearing delicate materials such as cashmere, silk, wool, or synthetic fibers like polyester and acrylic, friction from shoulder belts or contact with the outer fabric of bags may cause pilling or fuzziness.
  • The color of the luggage body and plastic parts may fade due to long-term exposure to direct sunlight or other factors in use/storage.
  • Pay attention to getting magnetic card and anti-magnetic itemsin and out when magnet snap is used on the products.
  • Do not keep the products in high-temperature place such as cars for long time. It may cause shape deterioration and color transfer/fading.
  • Prevent overloading or overweighting stuff.
  • Bags are designed and developed for the purpose of carring stuff in travel and business scenes. Do not use for improper purposes.
  • Please keep bag in a place of good ventilation but no ultraviolet ray. Keeping the product in a plastic bag or a carton box may quicken the gradation such as hydrolysis of the handle and the casters.
  • When using the luggage after a long period of storage, be sure to inspect it in advance by applying gentle force to the handle in order to confirm that there are no problems.

Leather products

There are wide variety of leather products, but cowhide is the main material used in most of them. Features and quality of leather vary depending on age of cows and finishing methods.

Maintenance

■Leather demands a lot of attention on a routine bases

Clean the surface with dry and soft cloth regularly. Make sure to wipe especially finger marks and sweat with which mold is grown on. If it gets wet, pat it with dry cloth to dry off as quick as thought.In this case,pat dry with a dry cloth.

Make sure not to scrub by wiping up. The dirt on surface penetrates into interior of the products and it becomes a frequent cause of smear.

After dry off the products, stuff paper (newspaper and such) returning to original shape and dry in shade in a well-ventilated place.

Do not take hot-dry method using dryer and avoid direct sunlight, which may cause shrinkage and stiffening of leather.

When the products are dried completely, apply protective oil or cream.

Be aware in advance of type of leather and surface finishing method, and use designated cream. First try it in invisible spot before applying cream to avoid color fading, stain and shape deterioration.

■Eliminate stain when showing dirt in leather

Use eraser and such to make some stain go away being careful of fading color. Apply special cream for leather treatment to wipe finger marks or grease. Make sure to try it first in invisible spot.

Washing in water is a frequent cause of leather material destruction, color fading and shape deterioration.

Synthetic Fiber products (Nylon, PU leather and etc.)

Textile product is divided broadly into natural materials such as cotton, hemp, silk etc.and artificial fiber such as nylon, polyester, acrylic and etc. Natural material has big attraction in hand feeling and the features of each material at the same time, it possesses an element of danger to lose color and etc. However, the color fading sometimes goes for fashion in canvas bags and jeans. Among artificial fibers, nylon and polyester are used most often as main material for bags due to its lightweight, durability and rubbing resistance.

■Daily care

Clean the surface with soft brush to dust off.

■Stain Cleaning

Use eraser and such to make some stain go away being careful of fading color. Use neutral soap, rinse with a damp sponge to wipe finger marks and oily dirt.

Take particular note of natural material for color fading.

Synthetic Leather products

This is a synthetic material made by coating or impregnating a base fabric with polyurethane resin, among other substances. It can achieve a texture similar to natural leather, is resistant to water and dirt, and is easy to maintain. However, due to the characteristics of the material, aging degradation (such as stickiness or peeling on the surface over time) is unavoidable. Please place it in a well-ventilated area.

Maintenance

  • Do not clean the luggage with a cleaning agent containing solvent or abrasive compound,such as thinner or benzene. To clean the surface, wipe with a cloth dampened with neutraldetergent, then clean with a cloth dampened in water.

For Storage

  • Store the luggage in a well ventilated place that is not subject to UV (ultraviolet) rays. Do not store inside a vinyl bag or cardboard box, as this would accelerate aging due to hydrolytic degradation of the handle and wheels.
  • When using the luggage after a long period of storage, be sure to inspect it in advance by applying gentle force to the handle in order to confirm that there are no problems.

Safety precautions

  • When extending or retracting the extendable telescoping handle, be careful not to get your fingers caught in the pipe joint or between the handle and luggage body.
  • It is dangerous to forcibly roll the luggage over stairs or uneven surfaces. Improper use of wheels may result in luggage damage or cause the user to tip over. Carry the luggage by the main handle when necessary.
  • Be careful of unexpected luggage movement in a moving vehicle or on a slope. Set the luggage flat or hold the handle at all times. ※If your luggage is equipped with a wheel stopper function, lock the wheel.
  • Do not touch the wheels immediately after continuous rolling of the luggage. Continuously rolling wheels generate frictional heat and may cause burns.
  • When opening or closing the luggage, be careful not to catch your fingers, clothing or other items.
  • Be careful when placing the luggage on a high place in order to prevent it from falling. If the luggage falls on a person, it can cause serious injury.
  • When carrying the luggage onto an escalator, pay attention to your surrounding, position the luggage in front of or behind you and hold it securely to prevent it from falling. Also, grasp the hand rail belt of the escalator firmly so as to prevent yourself from falling. If the luggage falls down, serious injury may occur.
    ※Lock the wheel of your luggage if it is equipped with a wheel stopper function, to prevent it from falling.
  • Do not use the luggage for any purpose other than it was designed for, such as for playing, or as a platform or chair.
    ※If you rest on the luggage as if sitting on a chair, the wheels may turn and cause you to fall, thus leading to an unexpected accident or damage to the luggage.
    ※Do not play with the luggage, for example, by placing a person in the luggage and closing it since using the luggage as a "toy" can result in a dangerous circumstance.
    ※Do not cover your head with the plastic cover bag for the luggage since it can suffocate you.
  • The luggage is designed for use in a travel. Do not use it in lieu of a cane or walking aid.
  • Do not put your weight on the telescoping handle since the luggage can fall over and cause injury.
  • When releasing your hand from the telescoping handle after rolling the luggage on wheels, make certain that the luggage will not fall over. ※The luggage can easily fall over if the center of gravity is high. To set the center of gravity at a low position, pack heavy items close to the middle of the side with wheels.
  • Note that moving the telescoping handle sideways while pressing it down can disengage the stopper and cause the telescoping handle to suddenly descend all the way.
  • When pulling the luggage, pay heed to the people and objects in the surrounding area to prevent an unexpected accident such as falling down.

Usage precautions

  • Sand, dust or lint adhered to the wheel shafts can prevent the wheels from proper or smooth operation.
  • The telescoping handle is designed for use in pulling the luggage. Do not lift the luggage by the telescoping handle. Doing so can cause damage. Be sure to hold the main handle on the luggage body to lift the luggage.
  • To adjust the length of the multi-stage telescoping handle, pull out the bar all the way, then adjust the length while retracting the bar.
    ※Some multi-stage telescoping handle are not adjustable in length.
  • The telescoping handle has a certain amount of "play" to allow smooth handle movement.
  • If your luggage has a zipper, open the zipper all the way to the end position before opening the luggage. The zipper can become damaged if you attempt to forcibly open the luggage with the zipper halfway open.
  • The degree of wear of wheels varies depending on the frequency of use and the conditions of road surfaces they are rolled on. Also, note that the wheels degrade over time due to material characteristics.
  • The strength and durability of the luggage are more affected by its handling, such as impacts being applied during use, than by the frequency of use or the number of years it is used.
  • High acidity, salinity and humidity can cause damage to the luggage.
  • Heat can cause the luggage shape to deform. ※Do not leave the luggage near a heating device or in a high-temperature vehicle.
  • The Hardside luggage body is made of an impact-resistant material, but excessive shock or force can result in deformation or damage.
  • The surface of the mirror-finish Hardside luggage collects scratches during use. Those scratches cannot be prevented due to material characteristics.
  • The luggage may have a resin smell when it is new. This smell gradually fades with use.

Packing Precautions

  • Do not put cash or valuables in the luggage. The luggage locks are designed to prevent the luggage from accidental opening. They are not intended to protect against theft.
  • Exercise caution when placing fragile items such as glass bottles into the luggage. Glass bottles may break inside the luggage, or the contents may leak.
    ※If the luggage is transported by an airplane, the lids of bottles and other containers in the luggage may open due to a change in the pressure level.
  • Do not overpack the luggage. Overpacking the luggage can cause damage to the wheels and zipper.
  • The luggage is not waterproof. Rainwater can seep into the interior, causing the contents to be wet. Make sure to keep the luggage away from water, especially when traveling to an area with frequent rain.
  • The interior of the luggage is equipped with a zipper portion that has no clasp for opening. This portion is for use when making repairs. It cannot be used as a pocket.
    ※Some models do not have this zipper portion.

Wheel-equipped luggage are convenient and easy to move. However, there are increased cases in which inadvertent use results in anunexpected accident or trouble. Please observe the following basic manners with due consideration to the safety of people around you.

【Manners when using luggage】

  • Keep the luggage as close to your body as possible.
  • Pay attention to your surroundings, especially the area behind you, to ensure the safety of people around you.

<In downtown areas, and at train stations or airports>

  • Do not stop short or have a sudden direction change. It may result in an accident.
  • Do not walk while looking at a mobile-phone, which tends to make you pay less attention to the surroundings and is very dangerous.
  • When walking in a group at a sightseeing spot, etc., make sure the group does not spread across the road or sidewalk and block the path of other people.
  • Minor collisions may occur when going through ticket barriers. Keep in mind to pass straight and smoothly.

<On stairs or an escalator>

  • When carrying the luggage on stairs or over a ridge, be sure tohold the main handle on the luggage body. Using the telescoping handle can cause overturning of the luggage, damage to the handle, or injury.
  • Do not pull the luggage by the telescoping handle when climbing up or down stairs.
  • When carrying the luggage onto an escalator, pay attention to your surrounding, position the luggage in front of or behind you and keep your hand on the luggage to prevent it from falling. Also, grasp the hand rail belt of the escalator firmly so as to prevent yourself from falling.
    ※Lock the wheel of your luggage if it is equipped with a wheel stopper function, to prevent it from falling.

<When taking a train or bus>

  • The luggage may move inadvertently when it is in a moving vehicle or on a slope. Be sure to keep your hand on the luggage to prevent an accident.
  • When carrying the luggage in a vehicle, place it with due consideration to safety by placing the luggage against a wall or laying it flat on its side so that the luggage will not move due to vibrations.
    ※If your luggage is equipped with a wheel stopper function,lock the wheel.
  • When placing the luggage onto or taking it down from an overhead rack or shelf, pay heed to other people in the area.
  • If the luggage falls off from a high place such as an overhead rack or shelf, it can cause injury or damage to the luggage or contents. Exercise caution when placing the luggage at a high place.
